Scarce 1905 CAPITAL CITY FERRY Boat PHOTOS Seattle, WA WHITTELSEY FAMILY ALBUM

This and the other listings of similar grouping of vintage photos we currently have are from the Seattle, Washington Lewis Gates Whittelsey family photo album. He was a clerk employed with the Water Department and he took many photos of Seattle around the turn of the century, 1910's and 1920's. In particular, he took photos of the Regrade projects where many buildings and hills were razed and lowered in elevation with much of the fill going to the downtown area to fill in the "swamp" areas that are now waterfront.
This auction is for 1 (one) page that contains 3 (three) photos;
Two are of the Puget Sound paddle wheel steamer ship, the Capital City, and one is of a wooded scene marked "stump and boulder".
The steam boat Capital City was a frequent Olympia-run stern-wheeler could transport 300 passengers. Her route often included a popular stop at Boston Harbor near the inlet’s mouth. Along with the S.G. Simpson, Bailey Gatzert, Mizpah, Fleetwood and Greyhound, she was known as a “fast boat,’ and races for bragging rights to “speediest boat” were common. She was sold to the Olympia-Tacoma Navigation Company in 1903, and put on the Olympia-Seattle run.  She was fined 0 by the State in 1904 for transporting barrels of gasoline in a dangerous manner.  She was transferred to the Bremerton-Port Orchard run, and ended her days as a Columbia River tow boat.
The 3 photos are each about 4 3/4" by 3 3/4", and mounted on a single page back to back, and they are in good condition with age and handling wear, and wrinkling/ slight damages as seen in the photo. The Old Happenings lettering is Not on the item.
